To find the equation:

9 - c = - 13 \\ - c = - 13 - 9 \\ - c = - 22 \\ c = 22

Things to remember when doing the equations:

We put the value to the side opposite to the unknown in order to find its answer.

When a value is put to another side, the value would change from positive to negative/negative to positive.

When both sides are negative, remember to take away the negative signs. As we divide both sides by -1.

Hope it helps!

9 - c = -13

Subtract 9 from both sides.

-c = -22

Divide both sides by -1.

c = 22
