suppose you used an oven thermometer while baking and discovered that the oven temperature was between +5 and -5 degrees from the setting if your oven is set to 350° let t be the actual temperature

Ignore the fraction bar. The plus and minus sign is a plus over a minus. It means that the 5 is either added or subtracted from 350 for the actual temperature

t = 350 ( + )/( - ) 5

Answer:

Temperature to which Oven was set=350°

It is given that , oven temperature was between +5 and -5 degrees from the setting.

Also, Actual Temperature=t

Maximum Temperature of oven will be=350°+5°=355°

Minimum Temperature of Oven will be =350°-5°=345°

Minimum Temperature of oven≤Actual Temperature≤Maximum Temperature of oven

→345°≤ t ≤ 355°
