I could be wrong but “tensions in Europe sprouted from trouble in the Balkans” sounds most correct to me.

Answer:

tensions in Europe sprouted from trouble in the Balkans

Step-by-step explanation:

The first world war was a pressure cooker about to blow, there were two little nations battling against eachother, but backed up by larger super power nation that had interests in both nations, Germany and Russia were supporting each a different side of the conflict, and when the problems between Serbia and Austria rose up, Germany and Russia soon joined the battle.
