its simple
as we move 5 to left it will be -2
because - sign indicate we must go left

The answer is c. because if you have a number line and you have 0 in the middle and 3 on the right and 5 on the left it would look like this

-5-4-3-2-1 0 1 2 3 4 5

go back five from three and you get -2
