Since it's a midpoint, you can say that 5x-6=2x ; after subtracting 2x and adding 6, you have 3x=6, then x=2. Plug two back into AB (5x-6) and you get 5(2)-6, or 10-6, or 4, the solution.

In the figure above B is the midpoint of AC. Solve for the length of AB.
