12x=20

x=0.6

The answer to that equation is 0.6. Which I don't think you are looking for? So you may have made a mistake in the equation.

If you meant to say 2x = 20, the answer would be 10.

Answer: The correct option is (D) 40.

Step-by-step explanation: We are given to solve the following equation for the value of x :

(1)/(2)x=20~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~(i)

To solve for x, we must multiply each side of equation (i) by 2.

So, from equation (i), we get

(1)/(2)x=20\\\\\Rightarrow 2*(1)/(2)x=2*20~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~[\textup{Multiplying equation (i) both sides by 2}]\\\\\Rightarrow x=40.

Thus, the required value of x is 40.

Option (D) is CORRECT.
