A mother gives $20 to her daughter to buy some school supplies if the kid spends $219. How much did she spend of her own money.

To answer this all you have to do is subtract the amount of money given to her from the amount of money spent so in this case, 219-20=199

So she spent $199 of her own money

Subtract the total spent with the amount the mom gives

219 - 20 = 199

The daughter spends $199 of her own money
