Both of these numbers are situated to the left of the origin (x=0). The further a number lies to the left of the origin, the smaller it is deemed to be, algebraically. Thus, -0.9 is smaller than -0.4, and so


-0.4 > -0.9 is correct.

A, because -0.4 is greater than -0.9. Try drawing it on a number line!
