2x + 6 and 96 are across each other so they have the same measurements.

Subtract 6 from 96.
Divide 90 by 2 which gives you 45.
X=45

96-6=90
90/2=45

Check work:

45•2=90
90+6=96

I hope this helped

Givens

2 crossed straight lines, each with a measure of 180 degrees total

2 vertically opposite angles.

Problem

Prove x = 45

Proof

2x + 6 = 96 Vertical Angles are equal

2x + 6 - 6 = 96 - 6 Subracting equals from both sides of an equation does not destroy equality. When I learned this, we said e f e are e. "equals from equals are equal." It's a chant.

2x = 90 On the left it is the additive inverse is added to a number, the result is 0,

2x/2 = 90/2 Equality is not destroyed if both sides are divided by the same thing.
