Hello!

Let's think of this in a simple way. If you have four n's and add 8 more n's, how many n's do you have? You would have 12 n's!

Therefore, our answer is D) 12n

The question is: 4n + 8n

Note the variable (n). Both terms (4n) & (8n) have only 1 n. Note also that you are adding. To add, the terms must have the same number of variables (which is in this case).

Add: 4n + 8n = 12n

(D) 12n is your answer
