3w + 15 - 5 + 2 = 5

Combine like terms (15 - 5 + 2).

3w + 12 = 5

Subtract 12 from both sides.

3w = -7

Divide both sides by 3.

w =
\boxed {-7/3} or
\boxed {-2~~ 1/3}
