The Bosque Redondo Indian Reservation failed due to economic reasons. The Bosque Redondo did not provide enough food and water for the dense population of 10 000. The Navajos were dying of hunger and sickness at Fort Sumner. The Doolittle Committee’s investigations led to The Treaty of 1868 allowing the Navajos to return home.
