PEMDAS lets us know what operation we should carry out first.

because M (multiplication) comes before A (addition) we need to multiply our numbers first

9 · 27 + 2 + 31 · 28

243 + 2 + 868

now we can add

243 + 2 + 868

245 + 868

1113

You have to use PEMDAS

PARENTHESES: ( )

EXPONENTS: A²

MULTIPLICATION: ×

DIVISION: ÷

ADDITION: +

SUBTRACTION: -

The order for subtraction and division doesn't matter. When there is subtraction and addition, you do the one that comes first.

First is multiplication:


9 * 27 = 243

Do the multiplying at the end:


31 * 28 = 868

Here is your new equation:


243 + 2 + 868

Add:


243 + 2 + 868 = 1,113

Your answer is 1,113
