A square has all 4 sides that are equal.

Set the equations for both sides to equal each other and solve for X then you can calculate the length of a side to use to solve for the area.

3x + 2 = 4x

Subtract 3x from each side:

x = 2

Now calculate the length of one side: 4x = 4(2) = 8

Now you know the length of the side. To find the area multiply 8 by 8 to get the area.

8 x 8 = 64 square units.
