Hi!

To find out if it is a solution, put in the values.

-1 = -3 * 1 - 2

Solve

-1 = -3 - 2

-1 = -5

No, it is not.

Hope this helps! :)

To check if (1, -1) is a solution of y = -3x - 2, you need to substitute x = 1 into the equation to see if y = -1.

y = -3(1) - 2 = -3 - 2 = -5

if x = 1 then y = -5

Answer: (1, -1) is NOT a solution of the equation y = -3x - 2
