Suppose you are given two shapes and you must show that they are congruent using transformations. If the orientation of these two shapes is the same, which type(s) of transformations should you use to show that they are congruent? Why?

Of the isometries, translation is your best tool. The orientation is already correct so rotation is unnecessary, as is reflection.

Answer with explanation:

There are four kind of transformation

1.→Rotation

2.→Reflection

3.→Dilation

4.→Translation

It is given that ,Pre-image and Image are congruent. So, we will remove a transformation called Dilation from the four kind of transformation.

⇒Three transformation are left to choose with,

Rotation , Reflection and Translation.

⇒When we consider Rotation , Orientation is considered that is angle by which pre image is rotated to get image.

⇒While, In Reflection and Translation Orientation is not considered. So,we will use following transformation to show that the two Pre-Image and Image are Congruent.

1. Reflection

2. Translation
