30 Tabitha earns $8.50 per hour at her summer job. She want to save money to buy a tablet that costs $289 plus 6% sales tax. Tabitha has already saved $75. Write and solve an inequality that shows how many hours Tabitha will need to work to have enough money to buy the tablet.

If x is the number of hours she would have to work.

This is the inequality. She has to have exactly or more than how much the tablet costs with tax.

289 + (289 * .06) \leqslant 8.5x + 75
Then calculate how much the tablet would cost with tax.

306.34 \leqslant 8.5x + 75
She already has 75 dollars so subtract it from the price with tax.

231.34 \leqslant 8.5x
Divide to find x, the number of hours she has to work.

She has to work about 27.216 hrs or more to buy the tablet.
