Chris, Mary Beth, and Allison are discussing the number of votes received by a candidate running for office. Chris says that approximately 46.2% of the votes went to the candidate, Mary Beth says that 231 out of every 599 votes went to the candidate, and Allison says that 0.462 of the votes went to the candidate. Are they in agreement? Explain your reasoning.

The numbers given here are not in agreement, because Mary Beth's ratio is roughly equivalent to 0.386, or 38.6%.

If Mary Beth intended to say that 231 out of 500 votes were for the candidate, then the three would be in agreement. 46.2% = 462/1000 = 231/500 = 0.462.
