1/3 x + 6 = -8

First subtract 6 from both sides:-

1/3 x = -8 -6 = -14

now multiply both sides by 3::-

x = -42 (answer)

So firstly, subtract 6 on both sides of this equation: 1/3x = -14

Next, multiply both sides by 3 and your answer will be x = -42
