The given line passes through the points (−4, −3) and (4, 1).

What is the equation, in point-slope form, of the line that is perpendicular to the given line and passes through the point (−4, 3)?

y − 3 = ? (x + 4)

the slope of the given line is ½. the slopes of perpendicular lines are negative reciprocals, so the slope of the required line is-2.
so our given point is (-4,3). then in point-slope form we have

y-y1=m(x-x1)
y-3=-2(x+4)
