The license fee for a car which cost $9,200 is $82. At the same rate, what is the license fee for a car that costs $9,900? Round your answer to the nearest cent.

Because we know that both cars have the same rate for tax, we can set their ratios equal to each other:
(82)/(9200) = (x)/(9900)

Cross-multiply:
82 * 9900 = 9200x

Simplify:
811800 = 9200x

Divide both sides by 9200:
x = 88.2391304347826

They told us to round the solution to the nearest cent. Which gives us
x=$88.23

so, firstly , we will find licence fee for car which costs $1

for $1 car:

License fee
=(82)/(9200)

now, we can find for $9,900 car

For $9,900 car:

License fee
=(82)/(9200)*9900

License fee
=$88.24...............Answer
