In 2010, the population of a city was 66,000. From 2010 to 2015, the population grew by 7%. From 2015 to 2020, it fell by 6%. How much did the population grow from 2010 to 2015, to the nearest 100 people?

Explanation:

First, convert the percent into a decimal.

7/100=0.07 <- this is 7% as a decimal.

Now take the population number, 66,000, and multiply it by 107% (convert this to a decimal using the same formula as before and you'll get 1.07.)

66,000x1.07=70,620

Now subtract to find the growth.

70,620-66,000=4,620
