Whenever we are given with the diameter of any such figure ,

to find the radius , we divide the diameter by 2.

We know that

Diameter = 2 * radius

or

Radius = Diameter /2

,

In the question it says the in first step that

the radius should be found by multiplying the diameter by 2

, this is the first error

It should be that

the radius should be found by dividing the diameter by 2
