the answer is : (x -6)^2 +(x+4)^2

In this question, we have to factor the given polynominal which is


f(x) = x^2 -2x-24

We need two factors of -24 whose sum is -2, and -6+4=-2

So we can write f(x) as

f(x) = (x-6)(x+4)

And that's the required factored form .
