A police officer in hot pursuit drives her car through a circular turn of radius 366 m with a constant speed of 83.6 km/h. her mass is 56.1 kg.what are (a) the magnitude and (b) the angle (relative to vertical) of the net force of the officer on the car seat? (hint: consider both horizontal and vertical forces.)

(a) Net force=556 N

Step-by-step explanation:

Horizontal force= Fh= centripetal force

so Fh= mv²/r

m= mass=56.1 kg

v= velocity= 83.6 km/h=23.2 m/s

r= radius of circular turn= 366 m

so Fh= 56.1 (23.2)²/366=82.5 N

Vertical force = Fv= mg= 56.1 (9.8)=550 N

so the magnitude of net force = F=√(82.50)²+(550)²=556 N

(b) for angle, tanθ=Fv/Fh

tanθ= 550/82.5

θ=tan⁻¹(6.67)

θ=81.5⁰
