A 76 -ton monolith is transported on a causeway that is 2500 feet long and has a slope of about 3.4 degrees. how much force parallel to the incline would be required to hold the monolith on this causeway?

We can say that the force required to hold the monolith is same as the component of weight along the inclined plane

F = mgsin\theta

here we have

m =76 ton = 68946 kg

\theta = 3.4 degree

now force required to hold this

F = mgsin\theta

F = 68946*9.8*sin3.4

F = 40071.6 N
