A potter is shaping a bowl on a potter's wheel rotating at constant angular speed. the friction force between her hands and the clay is 1.5 n total. the initial angular velocity of the wheel is 1.6 rev/s, and the moment of inertia of the wheel and the bowl is 0.11kg • m2 (a) how large is her torque on the wheel, if the diameter of the bowl is 12 cm?

Torque is given by formula

T = r * F

r = radius = 6 cm

F = force = 1.5 N

now torque is given by

T = 0.06 * 1.5 = 0.09 Nm

So torque due to the force by his hand is 0.09 Nm
