Answer:

Area of square tile is:

x²-6x+9

Explanation:

A square shaped tile has a length x-3

We know that:

Area of square=Side²

So, area of the outermost square tile=(x-3)(x-3)

=x(x-3)-3(x-3)

=x²-3x-3x+9

= x²-6x+9

Hence, Area of square tile is:

x²-6x+9

The square of a binomial can be worked out using the distributive propery.

(x - 3)² = x(x -3) -3(x -3) = x² -3x -3x +9

= x² -6x +9
