Jamal needs three gallons of a mix that is two parts blue paint, three parts white paint and one part red paint. How many gallons of red paint will he need?

Answer:


(1)/(2) gallon

Explanation:

The mix is
$(2)/(2+3+1)=\frac13$ blue paint,
$\frac12$ white paint, and
$\frac16$ red paint. He therefore needs
$\frac36=\boxed{\frac12}$ gallons of red paint.
