A shopkeeper makes his goods at 40% above cost and then offers a 25% discount. I f the jacket costs the shopkeeper $200, at what price is it sold?

Alright, lets get started.

The cost of the jacket to shopkeeper = $ 200

Shopkeeper makes his goods at 40% above cost.

Means whats he is adding in the cost is (his profit)= 200 * 40 %

= 200 * 40/100

= 80 $

Means he sells the jacket without discount : 200 + 80 = 280 $

Now if he offers 25 % discount on this amount which means

= 280 * 25 %

= 280 * 25/100

= 70 $

Means he has to sell on price : 280 - discount

= 280 - 70

= 210 $

At 210 $ , the jacket is sold. : Answer
