Woodrow Wilson’s plan called “New Freedom” aimed to attack tariffs, banks, and trusts. During that moment, tariffs protected the big industrialists at the expense of small farmers, because of that the Underwood-Simmons Act was signed (as a part of the new freedom) that reduced tariff rates.

The Federal Reserve Act was signed that made national currency more flexible.

Finally, Clayton Antitrust Act of 1914 named certain business tactics illegal, such as trusts.
