Answer:

\displaystyle \mathsf $(1)/(2)$ km

Explanation:

If I have traveled 1/4th of the distance between two places, I still have 1 - 1/4 = 3/4th of the distance yet to cover

If the distance between the two places is d, distance left =(3/4) . d

In this case, d = 2/3 km

So distance left to cover =
(2)/(3)\cdot (3)/(4)

We can cross-cancel the 3 which appears as the denominator in the first fraction and the numerator in the second fraction

\frac{2}{\cancel{3}}\cdot\frac{{\cancel{3}}}{4}=(2)/(4)

Dividing both numerator and denominator by 2 gives us

(2/2)/(4/2)=(1)/(2)

Answer:

\displaystyle \mathsf $(1)/(2)$ km
