The sum of two numbers, x and y, is 12. The difference of x and two times y is 6. What are the values of x and y?

A. x = 8, y = 4
B. x = 10, y = 2
C. x = 18, y = -6
D. x = 20, y = -8

Hey,
It is given that x+y=12 and,
x-2y=6
Therefore the value of x & y will be
x+y=12
-x+2y=6 (Changing signs)
--------------
0+3y=6
--------------
=> 3y=6
=>y=6/3
=>y=2
To find value of x ,
x+y=12
x=12-2
x=10
Therefore , value of x=10 and y=2
( option=>B.)
