Theo is in a car accident and is taken to the emergency room (ER). He tells the ER doctor that he has coronary heart disease and is taking medications to control his condition. The ER doctor notices that Theo has a large contusion on his leg and is bleeding profusely from his right arm. What does the doctor have to consider now that he has a better understanding of Theo's medical history?

Patient with coronary heart disease will be prescribed a drug that disrupt the blood clotting mechanism to prevent recurrence of the heart attack. This drug will be dangerous if the patient has a wound because the bleeding will be profuse and hard to stop.

The doctor should prepare a more rigorous effort to stop the bleeding. The doctor should consider giving antidote for the drug. Vitamin K is one of the clotting factor that might be useful to counter warfarin effect.
