many of Muhammad's teachings upset Arabs because they seemed a threat to the business of people that profited from annual pilgrimages to the Kaaba. Mecca's wealthy merchants were worried about his teachings that all those who believed in Allah would become equal. This is because the merchants wanted to be richer and more powerful than the poor. He also taught that the fortunate should help the poor which didn’t go well with the rich
