Which ordered pair is the vertex of y=|x+5|-1

We can tell that this absolute value function opens up, so the vertex will be at the x value where the output is the lowest. The lowest you can make |x+5| go is 0, because everything else will be a positive number is greater. The one x value that does that is -5. Plug in -5, and you will get |-5+5|-1=-1. So, the ordered pair for the vertex will be (-5,-1)
