I serve a volleyball at a 730 angle with the horizontal, and an initial speed of 5.6 feet per second. What is the component form of the velocity? Please round to three decimal places out from the zero.

You would split out the velocity into x and y components.
X component: 5.6cos(73)= 1.637i
Y component: 5.6sin(73)= 5.355j

Therefore velocity in its component form is 1.637i + 5.355j ft/s

Answer:

Velocity = 1.637i + 5.355j

Explanation:

If you serve a volleyball at 73° angle with the horizontal and an initial speed of 5.6 feet per second.

Then horizontal component of the velocity = 5.6×cos73°i = 1.637i

and vertical component of the velocity = 5.6×sin73°j = 5.355j

Finally the component form of the velocity will be = 1.637i + 5.355j
