4t + 2 = 7t - 7

What is t?

Hey!

Here is the equation:

4t + 2 = 7t - 7

Subtract 4t from both sides. It becomes:

2 = 3t - 7

Add 7 to both sides. It becomes:

9 = 3t

Divide both sides by 3 to leave t alone. It becomes:

(9)/(3) = (3t)/(3) \\ t = 3

That means t is equal to 3.

Good luck and hope this helps!

To solve this question, we want to get t by itself, on one side. To do that, the first step is the get all terms with 't' on one side and all the constants (numbers) on the other side.

4t + 2 = 7 t - 7

Since the left side has a greater number of t, let's move all of the terms with t there.

4t - 4t + 2 = 7t - 4t - 7

2 = 3t - 7

Now we move the numbers

2 + 7 = 3t - 7 + 7

3t = 9

Now we get t by itself.

3/3t = 9/3

t = 3
