Consider right triangles ADB and ADC in the figure, right angle D.

By alternate transversals ABD=63° and ACD=11°.

\tan 63 = \frac 8 y

\tan 11 = \frac 8{x+y}

y = (8)/(\tan 63)

x = -y + (8)/(\tan 11)

x = (8)/(\tan 11) - (8)/(\tan 63)

x \approx 37.08 \textrm{ meters}

That's in one second, so

Answer: 37 meters per second
