So firstly, solve -2^3:
-2=-8-x^2+7

Next, combine like terms:
-2=-x^2-1

Next, add 1 on both sides of the equation:
-1=-x^2

Next, multiply both sides by -1:
1=x^2

Next, square root both sides:
+/-√(1)=x.

Next, solve it twice, once with the + symbol and once with the - symbol:

+√(1)=x\\ 1=x

-√(1)=x\\ -1=x

In short, x = -1, 1

(-2) = (-2)^3 - x^2 + 7

-2 = -8 - x^2 + 7

-2 = -x^2 - 1

x^2 = 1

x = +/-1

answer

x = -1 , 1
