Carbon, hydrogen, oxygen, and chlorine are all nonmetals. Sodium is the only
metal. H2O and CO2 are each composed of two nonmetals. NaCl is composed of a
metal and a nonmetal.
Na+ and Cl -
ions are in a 1:1 ratio; the compound is neutral.
