Terminal decline is the acceleration of decline in cognitive functioning related to impending death.
Terminal decline or terminal drop refers to the phenomenon of accelerated decline in the cognitive ability as an individual approaches death. Recent researches also suggested that accelerated cognitive decline in geriatrics does not circumscribed only on neurodegenerative disease processes but it also is related to a much broader decline in the biological decline as an older adult is in close proximity to death.
