Remark

The 29o angle is made up of a line that looks horizontal and the hypotenuse.

The only way to solve this is to assume the horizontal line just mentioned and x are parallel. If that is so, the angle of the triangle on your right is 29o as well.

Step One

Set up the equation.

You are using a right angle triangle using the 29o angle on the lower right that we defined in the remark section.

Cos(29) = adjacent / hypotenuse.

Adjacent = x

Hypotenuse = 500

Cos(29) = 0.8746

0.8746 = x / 500 Multiply both sides by 500

x = 0.8746 * 500

x = 437.3
