well, in a triangle, the midsegment is half of its parallel base, namely in this case BD = ½AE.

well, what is the length of BD anyway?

well, we know its coordinates are -1,3 and 2.5,3

AC = 2 BD

Distance BD = √[(2.5+1)^2 +(3-3)^2]

Distance BD = √(3.5)^2

Distance BD = 3.5

AC = 2 * 3.5 = 7

Answer

d. 7
