A concave mirror produces magnified image when

(a) The object is placed between the center of curvature and the principal focus.

( b) When the image is placed very close to the mirror between principal focus and the pole of the mirror.

The images in the two cases are different. In case (a) image formed is real and inverted while as in case b, the image formed is virtual and erect.
