In the given figures PQR~ STU.In similar figures sides are in proportion.

A scale factor is a number which multiplies some quantity. The ratio of one length to the other corresponding side gives us the scale factor.

By the similarity statement the sides QR and TU are the corresponding sides.

The scale factor is the ratio of the length of the side of second figure to the length of the corresponding side of the first figure.

Scale factor =
(4)/(20)= (1)/(5)

Option C is the right answer.

Since STU is smaller than PQR, the scale factor is less than 1.

Find the scale factor by dividing the known side of the smaller triangle by the same side of the larger triangle to get 4/20, which reduces to 1/5.

The scale factor is 1/5.
