the reconstruction act gave african American USA citizenship.

The reconstruction act of 1867, was drawn to provide a process for readmitting southern states into the union after the civil war, during the Johnson administration. it provided former slaves, Blacks national citizenship. the right to vote for blacks was provided by the fifteen ammendment in 1870.
