What you have to do here is put that point-slope form of the line into the slope-intercept form, which simply means to solve it for y. We first distribute the 1/2 into the parenthesis to get
y-8=(1)/(2)x-2. Now we will add 8 to both sides and get
y=(1)/(2)x+6. Of course, in function notation that is
f(x)=(1)/(2)x+6, which is choice B.
