A photographer charges a sitting fee of $15, and charges $4 for each 5-in. by 7 in.photograph the customer orders. The linear function c=15+4n can be used to calculate the customer’s cost (c) based on the number of photographs (n) purchased. How many photographs can be purchased if you cannot spend more than $50.00?

a.No more than 7 photographs

b.No more than 3 photographs c.No more than 8 photographs d. No more than 9 photographs

Your answer is C. No more than 8 photographs.

This is found by setting the expression equal to 50, as $50 would be the cost and thus represent c. This gives us:

50 = 15 + 4n
- 15
35 = 4n
÷ 4
n = 8.75

Because n does not equal a whole number, we must round down as it is not possible to purchase 3/4 (0.75) of a photograph, and we are not able to purchase more without spending more money. This gives us the final answer as 8, so no more than 8 photographs can be purchased.

I hope this helps!
