Either way you still have the exact same amount of material length no matter if melted and remolded or simply cut

a) 37 cubes

b) 27 cubes

Step-by-step explanation

The volume of cube is given by:

volume = l³

Where l ⇒ length of the cube.

part a

The volume of the bigger cube measuring 10 cm = 10³=10×10×10 = 1000 cm³.

Volume of the smaller cube measuring 3 cm = 3³ =3×3×3 = 27 cm³

To get the number of cubes to be made we divide 1000 cm³ by 27 cm³.

number of cubes = 1000/27 = 37. 03

The number of complete cubes will be 37.

Part b

Since we are not melting the bigger cuber we can not divide their volumes.

We are going to count the number of cubes that can be cut from each side.

The length of the bigger cube is 10 cm and that of maller cube is 3 cm.

So, 10/3 = 3.33..

This means only 3 cube can fit from each side.

Number of cubes = 3×3×3

= 27 cubes
